With the defeat, Indonesia which performed impressively to win 3-0 against Qatar on Friday, thus had to be content being ranked sixth among the 12 countries participating in the championship.
Before around 3,000 spectators at the Palembang Sports and Convention Center the Indonesian team played as if it had lost its previous fervor.
Thailand`s team which was strengthened by players who were groomed for the upcoming Southeast Asian Games in Palembang was ranked higher in the championship.
Assistant coach Dadang Sudrajat admitted after the match that it was an anticlimax after the Indonesian players performed well the day before.
"Indeed they were tense when they played their opponent from a common Southeast Asian country as they would be the ones they would also meet in the next SEA Games," he said.
"They lost their confidence after all the smashes were blocked to make their game not developing," he said.
Thai coach Monchai Supajirakul admitted that some of the players would be fielded in the SEA Games early in November.
"We also used this event as a try-out. I saw the Indonesian team is still a strong team in the next SEA Games as it has always become the champion," he said.
In the earlier match Qatar beat PTSC from Vietnam 3-0 to be in the seventh rank. China meanwhile won the third position after beating Japan 3-0.
The first and second ranks are to be competed by defending champion Iran (Paykan) and Kazakhstan (Almaty).
