Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government elite and political parties must rid themselves off the influence and infiltration of judicial mafia, a Regional Representatives Council (DPD) member said.

"Now is the time for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to act if he really intends to eradicate judicial mafia and create a clean political party and government," DPD member Laode Ida said here on Sunday.

Laode Ida also urged the president to take serious actions against Moh Nazaruddin, former treasurer of the Democratic Party (PD) who was now a police fugitive over an alleged corruption in the construction of a SEA Games athlete`s dormitory in Palembang, South Sumatra.

The president need to deal seriously with Nazaruddin`s case to response various accusations that the problem was as only a game of the judicial mafia

This is important, according to Laode, because the Nazaruddin case should not be taken lightly. The more so, circles within the Palace`s Ring I, or the ruling DP elite consider the various statements of Nazaruddin as lies.

"There are new things coming to the surface from the Nazaruddin case, for example, the links of the PD elite in the handling of state budget for the interest of individuals or their political institutions," he said.

Therefore, Laode askd the president to use the Nazaruddin case as a medium of `washing the dishes` (of the alleged dirt) within the elite of his government and political party.

"Through the overhaul and settlement of the Nazaruddin case, the President can through law enforcers open and clear all the actors involved in all judicial and case mafia," he said.

If the president did not do that, according to Laode, it was feared the head of state`s promise to eradicate corruption and the judicial mafia would only serve as a rhetoric. (*)
