Milan (ANTARA News/AKI) - Silvio Berlusconi on last week underwent surgery near Milan on his right hand to treat carpal tunnel syndrome.

The 74-year-old premier`s ten-minute operation at the Humanitas Institute Clinic "went very well" and he`ll regain full use of his hand in around 10 days, said Alberto Lazzerini who oversaw the surgery.

Berlusconi was due to leave the hospital in early Friday afternoon, Lazzerini said.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a stress-related condition on the tendon resulting from repetitive movements of hands, wrists, and fingers. Victims often suffer from the ailment as a result of excessive keyboarding, mousing and text messaging.

Berlusconi`s left hand was treated with a similar procedure last October.
