The imports were dominated by mineral fuels which accounted for US$62.2 million of the imports overall value in June 2011, Muchsin Ayub, head of West Sumatra`s statistics office, said here on Thursday.
The second biggest portion in West Sumatra imports consisted of fertilizers worth US$15.3 million, followed by wheat US$2.4 million, machinery and electrical appliances US$2.4 million and salt and sulfur US$1.4 million.
The five groups of commodities made up 95.38 percent of the overall imports in June 2011, he said.
Cumulatively, imports in the first half of 2011 reached a total value of US$455.6 million, a 34.65 percent increase compared to US$338.3 million in the same period last year.
