If there are points violated I ask that the matter should be reported to me so that I can interfere...Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Minister for State-owned Enterprises (SOE) Mustafa Abubakar said that the management of flag carrier Garuda Indonesia airlines should not violate the agreement it had made with its pilots association (APG).
"We called on Garuda to realize various decisions it has agreed with its pilots association. If there are points violated I ask that the matter should be reported to me so that I can interfere," the minister said after mediating the meeting between the Garuda management and APG at the ministry's office here on Monday.
The minister said that the Monday's meeting was attended by six members of Garuda's board of directors and five representatives of APG.
On July 28, 2011, a number of APG members staged a strike and rejected to fly. They staged the strike to demand for equal salary to that paid to foreign pilots hired by Garuda.
The strike caused a number of flights to be delayed. Mustafa said that the meeting discussed among others matters relating to the hiring of foreign pilots, collective labour agreement (PKB) and the retirement age.
"The management and APG have reached an agreement regarding remuneration, allowance facilities and bonuses. All of these are intended to narrow gaps between local pilots and their foreign counterparts," the minister said.
He said that actually the difference between what was received by local pilots and foreign ones was not too high, yet the accumulative benefits received by local pilots were higher.
"The salary issue is already settled, now pending the final formulation of pensioner benefits," the minister said. (ANTARA)
