Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Former foreign affairs minister Dr Hassan Wirajuda here Monday launched a new quarterly magazine called "Strategic Review: The Indonesian Journal of Leadership, Policy and World Affairs."

"The journal will make a significant contribution to information discourse on national, regional and global issues for policy makers and the public in general," Hassan said.

The Strategic Review journal is the first English journal in Indonesia trying to reflect Indonesia`s policies and thoughts as well as its views on global issues.

"The reform process over the past 13 years has made Indonesia the world`s third largest democracy, but with dynamic economic growth, Indonesia has become an important player in regional and international fora," Hassan said.

However, Indonesia is a country whose achievements are little known so when someone talks about Asia, they are usually thinking about China and India, he added.

"One of the reasons is lack of communication media, especially a journal on the leadership, policies, and strategic regional and international issues with the political and academic perspectives," Hassan, the chief editor of the new journal, said.

The journal publishes articles written by national and foreign authors. In its first edition, it publishes an article entitled "Indonesia in 2045: A Centennial Journey of Progress" written by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

The launch of the new journal was attended by among others those contributing their articles in its first edition. They included Chairman of the National Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Gita Wirjawan, Marine Corps Commander Major General M. Alfan Baharudin and Indonesian Institute of Science (LIPI) researcher Ulil Amri.(*)
