In a bid to avoid unwanted incidents , Timur said, the police were tightening regular security operation and intensifying traffic regulation.
"But things related to security disturbance, especially possible sabotage and act of terrorism are our primary concern in ensuring the security and safety for the holiday travelers," Timur said.
The National Police chief made the statement after attending a cabinet meeting, chaired by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at his office.
He explained that the police on Monday launched "Operation Ketupat" to ensure public security during the Lebaran or Idul Fitri post-fasting season.
Timur said the Ketupat security operation that would last 16 days from August 23 to September 6, 2011 was intended to give protection and security for the Lebaran holidaty travelers.
Asked if there was an indication of possible sabotage and act of terrorism, Timur said his ranks would continue to anticipate it whether there was an indication toward it or not.
For the mode of other crimes such as hypnosis and deprivation
through the anesthesia, the National Police chief said that in spite of the Ketupat security operation, the holiday travelers should remain on guard and not easily enticed with the offers from the people they did not recognize.
Police deploy a total of 96,393 personnel consisting of 769 from the National Police Headquarters and 95,624 personnel from regional police offices.
The number of this year`s Idul Fitri travelers is estimated to reach 15.5 million people, or an increase of 4.17 percent from that of last year`s 14.9 million.
