Maros, South Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - South Sulawesi Governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo has expressed hope that the Makassar-Maros road axis can be completed in September this year.

The governor expressed his hope to Maros deputy District Head Harmil when he inspected the construction process of the Makassar-Maros road axis as part of the trans-Sulawesi highway.

The construction process was currently being hampered by the installation of a pipline of the local drinking water company.

"But I hope the work will be completed at the end of this month so that the public can use the road," the governor said.

Syahrul expressed hope that work on the trans Sulawesi road linking Makassar, Maros, Pangkep, Barru, and Pare Pare would be completed this year.

"People should pay serious attention to the completion of the road axis because it will speed up the people`s economy," the governor said.

Meanwhile, the Maros deputy district head said he would take heed of the governors` hope and speed up work on the project.

"Hopefully the road can be completed at the end of this year," Hirmal said.

He said the Makassar-Maros road axis with a total budget of Rp1 trillion has been under construction since the past three years at an estimated budget of around Rp900 billion.
