Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police will provide better security measures for the Group E`s Pre-World Cup match between Indonesia and Qatar next October 11, including prevention of the entry into the stadium of firecrackers and flares,the force`s chief said.

"We all must be in support of our team and police will surely optimize security measures. The Jakarta Police chief is planning it including preventive measures," National Police Chief Gen Timor Pradopo said here on Thursday.

He said that besides increasing alertness, security officers would also increase cooperation with the people through appeals by police in certain areas to the people (to maintain security).

"We will use all partnership programs better. All resort police chiefs have partnership programs, namely building good spectators and providing good support to (the team)," he said.

On Tuesday, the match between the teams of Indonesia and Bahrain was colored with firecrackers and flares which led referee to halt the match for 15 minutes.

The Indonesian team in the fight during the match which was witnessed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had to bow the Bahrain team with a score of 0-2.

The president, through his spokesman Julian Aldrian Pasha, regretted a group of unruly spectators who disturbed the Bahrain team by lighting firecrackers and flares during the match.

Some spectators even threw mineral water bottles at Bahrain`s reserved players who were warming up.

When the match was halted in the 75th minute, the president left the stadium and ordered the police chief and sports affairs minister to supervise and ascertain that the match would be continued in a conducive situation.

Indonesia which lost its Group E opener 3-0 at Iran on Friday has no goals and no points after two matches.

Anything less than a win at home against Qatar on October 11, 2011 will see its World Cup dream come to an end.(*)
