Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Twenty-two Indonesian micro-entrepreneurs participated in an ICT Training for SMEs held at the ASEAN Foundation`s training center here recently.

The participants came from Jakarta and surrounding areas, Yogyakarta and Bandung, the ASEAN Foundation said in a press statement here on Tuesday.

The entrepreneurs were trained to promote their products through online markets in order to help improve their business efficiency.

Training modules on common IT applications and new Microsoft Office 2010 programs as well as famous functions such as email using Windows Live Hotmail, blogging and social networking were also utilized as effective marketing tools.

According to ASEAN Foundation Executive Director Dr. Makarim Wibisono the 10th batch of ICT training this year was one of the 22 ICT training programs for SMEs in Indonesia in 2011, under a grant from Microsoft.

Microsoft wanted to promote information and communication technologies among small and medium enterprises in this country.

Around 400 local entrepreneurs of SMEs, youth and women in Indonesia are expected to join the next trainings in 2011 which will be conducted in North Sumatera, West Sumatera, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and West Nusa Tenggara.
