Amman (ANTARA News/Xinhua-OANA) - Jordan`s Lower House urged Thursday the government to summon the Israeli ambassador to express objection and disappointment over Israel`s recent "hostile" statement on making Jordan an alternative homeland for the Palestinians.

"We strongly reject such calls and insane remarks that will only fuel tension in the region," the Lower House said in a statement.

Jordan and the entire world will not accept less than the creation of an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital, the statement said, stressing that Israel should understand that Jordan is for the Jordanians and Palestine is for the Palestinians.

There have been repeated calls lately made by Israeli Knesset members for making Jordan an alternative homeland for the Palestinians, which was rejected by King Abdullah II of Jordan, who stressed that Jordan is capable of defending its future.
