Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Airport management company PT Angkasa Pura II needs an investment of around Rp2.54 trillion to develop a number of airports under its management.

The company`s president director, Tri Sunoko, said here on Friday the investment would be used to improve flight operation safety and security (Rp716.812 billion), airport safety and security (Rp552.863 billion), passenger and cargo services (Rp969.585 billion), expansion of business (Rp60 billion) and supporting business (Rp152.88 billion).

"So, the total amount of investment needed is Rp2.45 trillion," he said.

He said the company transferred around Rp469.112 billion in dividends to the government for the 2010 fiscal year until September 30, 2011.

The company was able to pay the dividend after booking a net profit of around Rp1.035 trillion in 2010 which is an increase of 18.96 percent compared to Rp870.074 billion recorded in the year before.

"With the achievement we are projecting a net profit of around Rp1.06 trillion in 2011," he said.

The success, he said, is driven by the performance of Jakarta`s Soekarno-Hatta airport in the past five years.

Last year the airport booked a profit of up to Rp1.625 trillion.

"Out of 12 airports (under Angkasa Pura II) seven make a profit while five others make a loss. The loss is caused by the large burden of depreciation borne by those branches," he said.

AP II manages 12 airports including Soekarno-Hatta and Halim Perdanakusumah airports in Jakarta, Polonia in Medan, Supadio in Pontianak, Minangkabau in Padang and airports in Aceh, Jambi, Tanjung Pinang, Pangkal Pinang, Bandung and Pekanbaru.
