West Jakarta police chief Senior Commissioner Setija Junianta said here on Monday LR was caught at around 3am on October 8, 2011 on Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Taman Sari.
"When caught LR was carrying five small plastic packs containing ketamine," he said.
He said the arrest was made following information from members of the public. "We followed up information from members of the public," he said.
Ketamine is known in nitelife as "K". After arresting LR, the police raided his apartment in Taman Sari and found another plastic pack of ketamine weighing 893 grams there.
"The ketamine is suspected to have originated abroad. A gram of ketamine is worth Rp500,000 and so 275 grams of the stuff would be worth Rp137.5 million," he said.
LR would be charged with violating Law Number 35 of 2009 on health carrying a sentence of up to 10 years in jail.
"In connection with the arrest of the Chinese citizen we will inform the Chinese embassy about the case," he said. (*)
