We are glad because the bilateral cooperation mechanism done by reviving and reactivating the joint commission have been very effective and able to identify problems that need joint efforts to find their solutions,"Mataram (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak agreed to increase the two countries` cooperation in the spirit of common welfare and progress.
"The philosophy we are following in safeguarding and increasing friendship, cooperation and bilateral partnership is common progress and welfare," President Yudhoyono said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Razak after holding the 8th annual consultation meeting here on Thursday afternoon.
He said the two key issues discussed at the consultation were overcoming a number of issues relating to the two countries` bilateral relations and finding the rightest solutions of the problems with a goodwill.
"The second is seeking and creating new opportunities for cooperation in various areas that would bring benefit to Malaysia and Indonesia," he said.
President Yudhoyono praised the success of the Joint Commission in strengthening the bilateral cooperation.
"We are glad because the bilateral cooperation mechanism done by reviving and reactivating the joint commission have been very effective and able to identify problems that need joint efforts to find their solutions," he said.
Prime Minister Razak who only stayed in Lombok for a half day and immediately left home after the meeting said there were four main principles underlining the agreement reached in the meeting.
"The first is the two governments agreed to find a solution of every problem as fast as possible for the two countries` prosperity," he said.
The second one is Indonesia and Malaysia agreed to to settle any problem within a clear time line, he said.
The third, he said, anything done by the two countries must be based on an equal treatment to deal with various problems.
"The fourth is settlement of complicated issues must done for the benefit of both countries. The solution is not beneficial for the governments but also for the people of the two countries," he said.
Razak expressed optimism that every problem faced by the two countries could be settled under such spirit.(*)
