"President Yudhoyono will witness the signing of the strategic cooperation between PTDI and Airbus Military for the production of C-295 aircraft," PTDI spokesman Rochendi said here on Tuesday.
He said the signing of the cooperation agreement with the foreign aircraft maker based in Sevilla, Spain, would be a followup to talks PTDI had been conducting with Airbus Military for some time.
He said the event would also be marked by the signing of an agreement between PTDI, the defense ministry and the police.
"The cooperation with Airbus Military is part of our corporate revitalization efforts," he said.
The C-295 would be aN improved version of the CN-235 , the icon of PTDI which was formerly known as "Industri Pesawat Terbang Nasional" (IPTN).
Capable of carrying 71 passengers and 9.2 tons of cargo, the planned aircraft would be a CN-235 derivative with a fuselage three-meters longer than the original type having a more powerful engine.
PTDI has so far been making CN-212, N-Bell, Super Puma and NBO-105 aircraft. It also produces components for Boeing, Airbus, Eurocopter and other foreign aircraft makers.
