"The change in the trade ministerial post from f Marie Elka Pangestu to Gita Wirjawan brings new hope for the people," Refrizal of the House of Representatives (DPR)`s Commission VI on trade, said here on Wednesday.
He said his side expected that the change in the trade minister`s post would result in better trade policies and most importantly polices that would be pro-domestic markets.
Refrizal said one of the ways to reinforce domestic trade was to give priority to the revitalization of traditional markets.
"Traditional markets are the centers of domestic trade. If the traditional markets are good then the people will d be happy to shop there, thereby small traders will also enjoy the benefits of domestic trade," he said.
Refrizal who is a legislator representing West Sumatra said the new trade minister must have the courage to evaluate the policies adopted by his predecessor regarding traditional markets.
He said efforts to develop the domestic market with state budget funds should not be allowed to fail to achieve their target. .
"The increase in the trade ministry`s budget to Rp2.4 trillion for 2012 as approved by Commission VI should mainly benfit the development and existence of traditional markets," he said.
