Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono opened an Indonesia Logistics Summit at the Jakarta Convention Center here on Thursday.

"I welcome this good initiative," the vice president said in his opening address.

The vice president noted that logistics r was the most important thing not only in trade but also in the progress of development in Indonesia.

"Logistics can have an extensive impact," the vice president said.

Meanwhile, Nasir Mansyur, deputy chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry for trade, distribution, and logistic affairs, said logistic costs in Indonesia at present were very high.

He said logistic costs could reach 17 percent and therefore his party would make every effort to lower the logistic cost to 10 percent with a target of 1 percent per year.

After opening the Indonesia Logistic Summit that would last from November 10-11, 2011, the vice president then reviewed the logistic exhibition.

Present at the opening ceremony were among others minister/chairman of National Development Planning Board Armida Alisjahbana and Transportation Minister EE Mangindaan.
