Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The government of Indonesia will ensure the progress of the implementation of the Bogor Goals at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Honolulu, Hawaii, on November 12-13, 2011, a presidential special staff said.

"For Indonesia, APEC forum in Honolulu later is important to ensure the progress of the implementation of Bogor Goals," presidential special staff for international relations Teuku Faizasyah said in a statement on Friday.

He said Indonesia would encourage the agreement on the Bogor Goals Progress Report Guidelines to make sure that there would be measurable progress on the achievement of Bogor Goals in 2020.

Teuku said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his entourage would leave Jakarta for Honolulu, the United States, on Saturday, November 12, 2011.

In Honolulu, the president will the annual gathering of the 21-member APEC for a weekend summit that will confront Europe`s escalating debt troubles that are sending shock-waves around the world.

Themed "21st Economies for the 21st Century," the APEC forum this time has three priorities, namely to strengthen regional economic integration and trade expansion, to promote green economic development, and to cooperate in promoting the rules of convergence.

Teuku said that the discussion of state/government leaders in the APEC forum would cover the issues of growth and employment, competitiveness, and energy efficiency and security.

He added that President Yudhoyono and the prime ministers of Japan, Singapore, and Canada would have a dialog with leading businessmen in Asia Pacific under the coordination of APEC Business Advisory Council.

Besides attending APEC Summit, President Yudhoyono will also hold a breakfast meeting with the United States and Indonesian businessmen.

The meeting will be a good opportunity for Indonesia to encourage the business makers from the two countries to step up their cooperation.

"In addition, the Indonesia president will have a bilateral meeting with the prime ministers of Canada and Russia," Teuku said.(*)
