Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - Security was tightened ahead of the 19th ASEAN Summit, the Sixth East Asian Summit, and related meetings being held here from November 14 to 19, 2011.

The joint TNI (Indonesian National Defense Forces) and National Police personnel intensified the security measures in the locations prepared for the summits, a police officer said.

"Every one wanting to enter the venue must use the main gate," the police office said.

Security officers check every one intending to go inside the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC). Journalists going to the media center have also to go through a metal detector.

Around 15,000 police and military officers, and a number of police sniffers dogs have been deployed particularly in the locations surrounding the summit`s venues, namely the BNDCC and the Bali International Convention Center (BICC), both are located in Nusa Dua.

The 19th ASEAN Summit will be attended by the heads of state/government from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The heads of state/government of China, South Korea, and Japan will attend the ASEAN+3 Summit and the Sixth East Asian Summit (EAS) will also be participated in by their counterparts from Australia, India, New Zealand, Russia and the United States(*)
