The minister accompanied by the foreign ministry`s Director General of ASEAN Cooperation Djauhari Oratmangun and the communication and informatics ministry`s Information Center and Public Relations Head Gatot S. Dewo Broto, among other things visited the media center at the BNDCC.
Minister Marty asked the organizing committee to make sure that all press conference activities run smoothly to support the dissemination of news on the summit substances to the public.
The government has allocated funds amounting Rp18 billion for the operation of the media center for the 19th ASEAN Summit, the ASEAN+3 Summit, and the Sixth East Asian Summit (EAS) as well as related meetings being held in Nusa Dua, Bali, from November 13 to 19, 2011.
"The funds allocated for that purpose amount to around Rp18 billion," Gatot S. Dewa Broto said last Saturday.
The funds were used among other things for computers, the internet line, and the organization of press conferences.
The Media Center located at Singaraja Hall, the BNDCC, has been equipped with 300 computers made available for around 1,500 journalists from 130 countries covering the summits.
The ASEAN Summit and the Sixth East Asian Summit will be participated in by leaders of 18 countries consisting of 10 ASEAN member countries and eight dialog partners, namely China, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Russia.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar.
US President Barack Obama is scheduled to arrive in Bali on Wednesday (Nov 16) for the East Asian Summit.(*)
