"Yes, the AGO leadership is very concerned about the case, and hopes the case will be handled professionally and proportionately by the KPK," Darmono said.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Deputy Attorney General Darmono expressed concern over the arrest of public prosecutor Sisyoto by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for allegedly being involved in bribery.
"Yes, the AGO leadership is very concerned about the case, and hopes the case will be handled professionally and proportionately by the KPK," he said here Tuesday.
He also hoped it would be the "very last" bribery case involving a public prosecutor. "In the future, the prosecutor`s office must be better including with regard to integrity and performance," he said.
He said the AGO leadership would continue making improvements by encouraging regional prosecutor`s office chiefs to tighten supervision over their subordinates.
In connection with the arrest of prosecutor Sistoyo who is also chief of development sub-section of the prosecutor`s office in Cibinong District, West Java, Darmono said later the post would no longer be filled by a prosecutor.
"Yes, we will evaluate managerial posts including the post of chief of development sub-section to see if it should not always be filled by a prosecutor but could also be filled by personnel that has managerial background," he said.
KPK arrested Sistoyo at a parking lot of the Cibinong prosecutor`s office along with two private employees with evidence of Rp99,900,000 cash money believed to be a bribe.
The AGO chief of supervision, Marwan Effendi, had said if proven guilty Sistoyo would be fired.
"We will see. If is later proven guilty in court he will certainly be fired," he said. (*)
