Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The second batch of the Indonesian military contingent Garuda XXIII-F`s mechanical battalion task force arrived in Lebanon on Thursday to join the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

Contingent Commander Yulianta greeted the task force upon arrival in the Marhseling Area in Beirut.

In his e-mailed statement on Friday, Yulianta expressed hope that members of the new contingent could continue their predecessors` achievement and professionalism and soon adapt to the situation and conditions in Lebanon where the winter was approaching.

The military contingent Garuda XXIII/F which consisted of 186 personnel later went straight to the Indonesian battalion station at Adshit al-Qusayr UN POSN 7-1, South Lebanon, by land for about three hours.

Upon arrival they were greeted by commander of the military contingent Garuda XXIII-E`s mechanical battalion task force Lt. Col. Suharto Sudarsono who arrived there earlier on November 22.

Commander of the military contingent Garuda XXIII-E`s task force Hendy Antariksa asked the newly arrived personnel to immediately adapt to the local operation area, both weather and local culture. "Hopefully, the XXIII-F task force can perform their duties better than their predecessors who have promoted the image of the nation and country," he said.

In total, the military contingent Garuda XXIII-F`s mechanical battalion task force is made up of 1,018 personnel. The third and fourth batches of the task force are expected to arrive in Lebanon on November 27 and 29 and the last batch on December 1.

The military contingent Garuda XXIII-F`s mechanical battalion task force is part of 1,341 Indonesian military personnel sent to Lebanon to replace the previous task force.

The 1,341 personnel consist of 1,018 from the military contingent Garuda XXIII-F`s mechanical battalion, 75 from the military police unit (MPU) of the military contingent Garuda XXV-D, 150 from the force protection company of the military contingent Garuda XXVI-D2, 50 from the Force Headquarters Support Unit (SFQSU) task force, six from CIMIC task force of the military contingent garuda XXX-B and 18 from the Military Community Outtreach Unit (MCOU) task force of the military contingent Garuda XXX-B.
