The coordinating team was formed under Presidential Regulation Number 85 of 2011 dated November 29, 2011.Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has formed a peacekeeping mission coordinating team (TKMPP) as a manifestation of Indonesia`s participation in the creation of a peace-based world order.
The coordinating team was formed under Presidential Regulation Number 85 of 2011 dated November 29, 2011, the Cabinet Secretariat said in its official website on Thursday.
The team which is responsible to the President is tasked among others with drafting policies and coordinating steps with regard to Indonesia`s participation in world peace missions based on the national interest.
To carry out the tasks, TKMPP is responsible for coordinating activities, ranging from planning, preparation, implementation to discontinuation of Indonesia`s participation in world peace missions.
The team also has the obligation to prepare comprehensive studies and issue recommendations on Indonesia`s participation in world peacekeeping missions.
In addition, it also has the task to determine Indonesia`s position and strategy in negotiations on and evaluate Indonesia`s participation in global peacekeeping missions.
President Yudhoyono has appointed Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs as chief of the team`s steering committee, with Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa as the team`s chairman, and Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro, Law and Human Rights Minister Amir Syamsuddin, Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo, National Development Planning Minister/Chief of the National Development Planning Agency Bappenas) Armida Alisjahbana, Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam, National Defense Forces (TNI) chief Admiral Agus Suhartono, National Police (Polri) chief General Timur Pradopo and chief of the State Intelligence Board Lt Gen Marciano Norman as members.
TKMPP will meet at least once every three months or any time if needed. The team reports the results of its jobs once every six months or any time if needed.(*)
