Madiun, East Java (ANTARA News) - A worker for state railway rolling stock maker PT INKA died after being electrocuted at his work place on Monday.

According to the company`s head of work safety maintenance, Sugeng Setijono, the 33-year-old outsourced employee, Samsudin, was installing electrical connector wiring circuits on top of a train carriage when the accident happened.

"Samsudin presumably lost his concentration on the job and electrocuted himself through his back," Sugeng said.

The high-voltage electric shock killed Samsudin whose body was found with burn marks on his back and left hand, he said.

The deceased`s body was evacuated to Dr Soedono Hospital in Madiun for a post mortem.

Sugeng said nothing strange had happened before the incident as, the employees of PT Realindo Global Works, a subsidiary of PT INKA, were all working according to standard operating procedures.

Even before and during the incident, several of the victim`s colleagues who were working on the same car had ensured that the electricity was turned off.

"The power was switched off for safety reasons, in fact one of the victim`s co-workers also climbed into the same car and did not have any problem," said Sugeng.

As Samsudin was a worker of a PT INKA subsidiary, PT INKA would provide the deceased`s family with an amount of money as compensation, he said.

"Samsudin`s death was a workplace accident, therefore PT INKA will provide compensation for his family and so will the state`s workers social security company," he said.
