Kampar, Riau (ANTARA News) - A total of 1,238 houses were inundated by floods in Kampar Kiri sub-district, cutting off many important roads.

The floods in Kampar Kiri have become an annual affair during the long rainy season, head of Kampar Kiri sub-district chief Febrinaldi said.

Some people had taken their belongings to the homes of their relatives who are staying in higher places, and some simply put their belonging on their rooftops, Febri said.

Besides Kampar Kiri sub-district, hundreds of houses and plantations in Gunung sub-district belonging to the local population were inundated by floods, the 5 inundated villages are Sungai Lipai, Kebun Durian, Gunung Sahilan, Sahilan Darussalam, and Subarak, he said.

Toni, a resident of Gunung Sahilan, said people cannot come out of their homes because so many access roads had been cut off.

Head of Kampur regional chief Fauzi Nurta said today will see the supply of 10 tons of rice.
