The move was aimed at anticipating the impact of the global economic slowdown on the country`s export growth, he said at an export forum held by the National Team for Increasing Exports and Investment (PEPI) here on Tuesday.
"Diversifying the export market for and improving the competitive edge of domestic products must go hand in hand because both are the key to penetrating the overseas market and ensuring sustainable trade," he said in a press statement.
Competitive export products were more easily acceptable to the global market and therefore, they would be able to open the way to increase exports, he said.
In the meantime, the effort to harmonize the market by penetrating non-traditional export markets might help the country address the impact of economic uncertainties in the main export destinations such as the United States and Europe, he said.
Indonesia would eye the fastest growing economic countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America to market its national products. In addition, it would also make some improvements to ensure that all the regulations and policies issued would be able to create more conducive economic situation, he said. (*)
