"We are planning to launch a strike because we no longer have harmonious relations with the management since they had failed to implement our collective labor agreement (CLA) properly since 2005," Tommy Tampatty, public information officer of the PTJakarta (ANTARA News) - PT Garuda Indonesia workers are considering to go on strike because of mounting resentment at and dissatisfaction about the management`s actions and attitudes in matters related to their interests.
"We are planning to launch a strike because we no longer have harmonious relations with the management since they had failed to implement our collective labor agreement (CLA) properly since 2005," Tommy Tampatty, public information officer of the PT Garuda Indonesia Trade Union (Sekarga), said here Thursday.
The management had not been implementing the CLA wholly in accordance with Law No 13/2003 on manpower affairs, he said.
Relations between Garuda`s management and its employees and Sekarga had also soured because the former had not been communicating with its workers properly and had been showing an arrogant attitude on the implementation of the CLA in its entirety, Tommy said.
In addition, the management had often violated clauses in the CLA as well as Law No 13/2003 , Law No 19/2003 2 on State-owned Enterprises and Law No 21/2000 on Trade Unions.
The condition of Garuda`s industrial relations had also been worsened by the fact that no CLA had been in force since January 1, 2010 as a newly negotiated CLA was never carried out by the management, Tommy said.
As a consequence , all of the management`s decisions and policies relating to industrial relations had been legally flawed.
Sekarga was calling on the state enterprises ministry, and the manpower and transmigration ministry to impose sanctions on Garuda`s management for the violations it had committed,
"If this situation drags on and is not resolved soon, we will be forced to take action," the Sekarga spokesman said.(*)
