"The Indonesian Office of Economy and Trade (KDEI) in Taiwan is still keeping abreast of the case of the two Indonesian sailors. The case is now being processed," spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Michael Tenne said after a press conference.
The Indonesian government always gave assistance to its citizens particularly those facing heavy legal problems abroad, he said.
Tene said last month Indonesia had no diplomatic ties with Taiwan but would always try to settle the case through the KDEI.
The two Indonesian sailors who worked for Taiwanese-registered fishing ship Chin Hai Hsiang are accused of killing the ship`s number three captain, Wang Yao Chang on December 5 last year.
The Indonesian citizens, identified as Kartubi and Asep Saepudin, have allegedly thrown the body of Wang into the sea in the Myanmarese waters. Until now the body is not yet found.
On December 9, 2011, an Indian patrol ship intercepted the fishing ship and escorted it to Blair port in Andaman island. The two were later taken to Taiwan to stand trial.(*)
