Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A total of 120 horse-race participants took part in the Minang Derby 2012 horse race with a total prize of 450 million rupiah here on Sunday.

The horse race participants from across the country competed in 15 races including the two-year beginner of 800-meter class, the Minang Derby 2012 horse race organizing committee chairman, Amran Nur said here on Sunday.

The horse race was officially opened by the Indonesian Equestrians Association Executive Board chairman or PB Pordasi, Mohammad Chaidir Saddak.

In the two-year beginner 800-meter class, the North Sulawesi`s horse master M. War with its jockey S. Deni won the class race.

Meanwhile, Maharani horse with its jockey M. Soleran from Central Java won the two-year beginner A/B 1000-meter class.

The cups for the winners were prepared by Sawahlunto mayor, Amran Nur, PT Bukit Asam, the West Sumatra chapter of National Sports Committee (KONI) and the West Sumatra governor.

According to Mohammad Chaidir Saddak, West Sumatra had been chosen to become the special racing horse producing center. (*)
