Angelina`s transfer from the House Commission X to Commission III was an "ill-advised" move and therefore it had to be corrected immediately, Andi Malarangeng quoted Yudhoyono as saying.
Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his capacity as chief patron of the Democrat Party ordered the revocation of a party decision to give Angelina Sondakh a seat in the House of Representatives` commission dealing with legal affairs.

"On hearing information on Angelina`s transfer to the House Commission III, our board of patrons chairman became very angry and ordered party chairman Anas Urbaningrum and House party faction chairman Jafar Hafsah to reverse the decision," Andi Malarangeng. secretary of the Democrat Party`s board of patrons, said here Thursday.

Andi who is also Sports and Youth Affairs Minister made the statement on the sidelines of the 11th General Assembly ASEAN Law Association in Nusa Dua which was also attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Angelina`s transfer from the House Commission X to Commission III was an "ill-advised" move and therefore it had to be corrected immediately, Andi quoted Yudhoyono as saying.

Angelina should be put in a "more appropriate" position, Andi said. "She is currently facing a problem with the law so it is not appropriate to assign her to a seat in the House`s Commission III that deals with legal affairs, " he said.

In the House Commission X Angelina dealt with educational, cultural and sports affairs.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) recently named Angelina a suspect in the SEA Games athletes village corruption case over which former PD treasurer M Nazaruddin is currently being tried in court.

After being named a suspect, Angelina was stripped of her position as PD deputy secretary general but retained as a House of Representatives member. The KPK imposed an overseas travel ban on her but has so far not detained the former Miss Indonesia.(*)
