"Four youths have died, and another one is in critical condition from consuming concoctions of alcoholic beverages," Adjunct Commissioner Mamzah Nasip, head of the Tasikmalaya police`s illicit drug section, said.
The four dead youths had taken the concocted drinks at different times and places but were admitted to the hospital at the same time.
Three of them were street musicians who had consumed the drinks in the Pancasila market area in Tawang subdistrict on Wednesday (Feb 15).
"They took a mixture of pure alcohol, Extra Joss energy drink and dextro pills but later collapsed. They were taken to hospital but did not make it," he said.
The fourth dead youth had drunk a self-made cocktail together with a relative at Kampung Mumunggang, Indihiang subdistrict, Tasikmalaya city on Wednesday (Feb 15). The relative also collapsed but did not die and was still undergoing treatment in hospital.
