Jakarta (ANTARA News) - PT United Tractors Tbk (UNTR) last year posted a net profit of Rp5.90 trillion, up 25.25 percent from Rp3.87 trillion the year before.

Compared to 2010, net income in 2011 rose 47.5 percent to Rp55.05 trillion, resulting in an increase in net profit, United Tractors corporate secretary Sara K Loebis said in a press statement issued on Friday.

"The increase was fueled by the rising sale volume of heavy-duty equipment from the construction machinery unit, rising coal production and overburden removal from the mining contracting unit," she said.

The conducive economic situation and relatively stable commodity prices had raised demand for heavy-duty equipment, she said.

She said the construction machinery unit contributed 49.7 percent of the 2011 net income, followed by the mining contracting unit 40.7 percent and the mining business unit 9.9 percent.

The increase in net income raised gross profit by 50 percent to Rp10.19 trillion from Rp6.80 trillion and operating profit to Rp7.62 trillion from Rp5.16 trillion, she said.
