"We obtained information that hundreds of former PTDI employees migrated to Malaysia. Around 100 of them have joined the Malaysian aerospace company. However, they haven`t yet reported directly to us," the manpower affairs attach� at the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Agus Triyanto, said on the sidelines of publicizing the sending of migrant workers abroad here on Monday.
Agus said former PTDI employees are badly needed as experts in developing the Malaysian aerospace industrial infrastructure.
A great number of PTDI employees, who have experience in carrying out airplane construction work and were fired by the company`s management, of course will not find difficulty in getting jobs, especially in Malaysia which is currently developing its aerospace and nautical-based industry, Agus noted.
In addition, around 700 Indonesian lecturers are currently teaching in various universities in Malaysia, he noted.
Agus further said that 1.08 million Indonesians have been working in Malaysia`s formal and non-formal sectors.
However, the number of Indonesian non-formal workers in Malaysia is about 1.5 million.
Thus, Agus expressed hope that the government will conduct intensive supervision of the activities involved in sending migrant workers abroad. (*)
