"Indonesia`s growing economic development during the past years and the number of paid tv customers in the country which so far has reached two million make us believe that there is an enormous business opportunity here," Simon said here on Wednesday.
As to Indonesia, he said, paid tv was important as a media that can transfer information to the people especially those who live far away from the reaching area of free aired tv.
He expressed optimism that paid tv business would have a place in Indonesia aside of free aired tv business in the country.
"Paid tv offers an innovative and economical package for customers. We also provide high quality content," he said.
In the same vein as CASBAA CEO`s statement, chairman of the Indonesian Cable TV Business Association (AptekIndo) Hery Prasetyo expressed optimism that cable tv business would grow well in Indonesia in the next five years.
"Not all areas in Indonesia can be reached by free aired tv. This is an opportunity for investors willing to develop cable tv business in the country," he said.
However, he asked the government to implement firmer regulations to cable tv operators especially in terms of license granted to new cable tv operators.
