"We should strengthen the key areas and the important role of business circles of Russia and Indonesia in developing trade, economic and investment ties," Ivanov said during the Russian-Indonesian Business Forum in Jakarta on Tuesday, Feb 28.
Deputy Director of the Department of Asia and Africa of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation and Head of
Russian Delegation E N Popov also emphasized the importance of bilateral relations between Russia and Indonesia during the current global economic situation.
"Russia and Indonesia have the potential to cooperate in energy,
infrastructure and tourism areas in order to develop a higher and stronger economy among the Southeast Asian regions, as well as globally," he said.
The Russian-Indonesian Business Forum was jointly organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Indonesia, the Russian Trade
Representative Office, Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Ministry of Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Indonesia (KADIN).
The Russian business delegation included representatives of the
Russian Business Council for Cooperation with Indonesia; the innovation center Skolkovo, mining and metallurgical companies OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel and JSC Severstal, JSC Digital Empire (frozen food technology), the Smart Logistic group of companies (airfreight shipments), JSC Polet Airlines, the state corporation Russian Technologies (Rostehnologii), and Kalimantan Rail PTE Ltd.
On the sidelines of the Business Forum, Russian company JSC Polet
Airlines, KADIN and German company SpaceTech GmbH signed a three-party agreement to promote implementation of the project `Air Launch` on theBiak Island, Papua.
According to their data, the trade volume of Indonesia and Russia
from January to November 2011 was 2,237 billion US dollar, an increase of 42 per cent from the same period in 2010.
