Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta police have arrested two more suspects involved in the robberies of four jewelry shops in Ciputat on February 24.

"We arrested five suspects some time ago and now, we have caught two more," Jakarta Metropolitan Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said here on Monday.

He added that the two new suspects, ER and S, alias T, were caught in Serang and Pandeglang, Banten on Sunday, March 4.

ER is believed to have received the stolen jewelry while S provided a hiding place for one of the robbers.

Rikwanto said the police confiscated Rp30 million in cash from ER and Rp40 million from S, who also received part of the stolen jewelry.

He said ER had also planned to provide a lawyer and a way to escape for the robbers.

He noted that the police are still searching for others who were directly or indirectly involved in the robberies and police estimated that 12 people were responsible for the robbery.

A gang of armed thieves robbed four jewelry shops in the Ciputat marketplace round 12.30 on February 24 and left with six to nine kilograms of gold jewelry worth Rp3.8 billion.(*)
