La Nyalla who was fired by Djohar Arifin Husin-led PSSI recently, gained a landslide victory by collecting 79 votes out of 81 valid votes.
He will serve for the term of office of 2012-2016 period, meanwhile Djohar Arifin Husin`s term of office is from 2011 through 2015.
La Nyalla, the former chairman of the East Java provincial PSSI chapter, defeated other four candicates, namely Gusti Randa, Ilham Noer Toadji, M R Kambu and Ryan Latief.
Having a lot of supports to fight for the PSSI chairmanship,
La Nyalla was predicted to win the election prior to the opening of the extraordinary congress.
"This is a mandate. I hope there will be no more conflict (in the PSSI). All the components who would develop the national football should be involved," La Nyalla said.
According to him, after being ellected as PSSI general chairman, he will concentrate to develop the performance of the national football until emerging as the Asia`s "tiger".
La Nyalla was also determined to merge the current two kinds of competitions namely the Indonesia Super League (ISL) which was considered illegal by the Djohar-led PSSI, and the Indonesia Premier League (IPL).
He even wished to attract people who are currently still supporting the Djohar Arifin Husin-led PSSI.
The extraordinary congress of KPSI-supported PSSI was participated in by 80 out of 101 valid votes.
The voters came from 26 provincial PSSI organizers, 12 clubs of ISL, 13 clubs of main Division, 12 clubs of Division one, 12 clubs of Division two and five clubs of Division three.
In July 2011, Djohar Arifin Hussein, former deputy minister of youth and sport affairs, was elected as the new chairman of the PSSI for the 2011-2015 period.
Djohar`s election in an extraordinary congress in Solo, Central Java, on Saturday, was expected to end fierce disputes over the sport association`s leadership.
Djohar gained 51 votes against Erwin Aksa who collected 48 votes out of the total 99 votes in the PSSI extraordinary congress which was organized by the PSSI Normalization Committee (KN) led by Agum Gumelar.
