The 25-year-old sisters from the southwestern province of Yunnan underwent the surgery at a military hospital in Shanghai.
"The operations on both the twins are successful," their surgeon, Zhao Yede, told the Shanghai Daily.
"They said they would continue to save up (money) from hard work so they can return for their respective last phases of surgery," he said.
One twin has reportedly returned home while the other is still recovering in the hospital.
Doctors say the sisters spoke and dressed like men, and have vowed never to marry as women.
The sex-change operation has fulfilled the pair's life-long dream of being men, The Sun newspaper reports.
One of the twins has been quoted as saying they did not want any publicity, for fear they would lose their jobs.
The hospital put them through medical and psychological tests before agreeing to perform the surgeries, it said.
Under Chinese law, their legal gender will remain female until they complete the final surgical procedures and apply for a change to their status.
