"Information about the plans to organize Sail Tomini is expected to attract investors for the development of infrastructure and public facilities, such as hotels and restaurants in the Tomini Bay area," Central Sulawesi`s Maritime and Fishery Office official Hasanuddin Atjo said here on Thursday.
Further, the international event will need new infrastructure and facilities to accommodate and serve thousands of foreign participants from some 10 countries at the Sail Tomini event.
Therefore, the government will invite private investors for the development of infrastructure, hotels and restaurants in Central Sulawesi.
The regional administration is waiting for a presidential directive on the implementation of Sail Tomini 2014, to move ahead on the drafting of a working plan for the event.
The Central Sulawesi administration will also need to intensively coordinate with the Gorontalo and North Sulawesi Provinces, as well as the 15 districts surrounding Tomini Bay, for the implementation of Sail Tomini.
Sail Tomini activities will include a yacht rally from Australia to Tomini Bay via Tolo Bay, a business forum, product and investment exhibitions, along with cultural and art festivals.
The peak of the event will be centered at the Togean isles, a national marine tourist object in Tojo Una-Una District that once was part of Poso District.
Indonesia had earlier sponsored Sail Indonesia events such as Sail Bunaken (in North Sulawesi Province, 2009), Sail Banda (Maluku, 2010), and Sail Wakatobi-Belitung (Southeast Sulawesi and Bangka Belitung, 2011).
This year, Sail Morotai will be held in North Maluku Province in September, while Sail Komodo is to take place in East Nusa Tenggara Province in 2013.
