"The cooperation with Kontanz of Germany had been going on for five years."
Bandung (ANTARA News) - Bandung Chamber of Industry and Commerce has extended cooperation with the its German counterpart in business development in Bandung.

"The cooperation with Kontanz of Germany had been going on for five years and has been extended for the next three years, especially for young businessmen," Chairman of Bandung`s Kadin Deden Y Hidayat said in Bandung Thursday.

The cooperation agreement was made on the sidelines of a visit of Kontanz to its Bandung counterpart. The German businessmen led by coordinator of cooperation program between Indonesian Deutscher Industrie-und Handelskammertag (DIHK) Andreas Gosche had an audience and exchange of views with Bandung businessmen.

Deden said under the cooperation, Kontanz gave training and developed business with Bandung businessmen. The training is being funded by Kontanz with billions of rupiahs.

The cooperation also provides assistance in infrastructure and information technology facilities.

"The cooperation is expected to produce an interaction and expansion of Bandung business networks with German businessmen. Most of the businessmen there are already well established and therefore expected to develop our businessmen in conducting business and cooperation with them," Deden Y Hidayat said.

He said the program is very useful for young businessmen besides having materials for raising capabilities and business potentials, it also provides opportunities to develop networks.

Deden said the businessmen not only use the existing networks because it will sooner or later lead to saturation, and new networks are therefore necessary.

Besides with Bandung`s Kadin, Kontanz also cooperated with the Central Java and North Sumatra Kadins. Bandung has become important to Kontanz as it has a high economic growth.

In the meantime, Ari Darma Strauss of the German Kadin said that in Indonesia there are still differences between graduates of educational institutions and the needs of industries.

"We are focusing on developing businessmen and encourage them to open wider international trade opportunities," Strauss added.

He said if the second stage of the cooperation produced an increase in capacity and business interest in Bandung, the program would be continued further in the next few years.
