Jambi (ANTARA News - Jambi province`s coal exports in the first two months of 2012 jumped 64.25 percent to US$31.39 million from US$19.11 million in the same period last year, the local statistics office (BPS) said.

According to BPS data, the province`s coal exports in February 2012 rose to US$22.30 million from US$9.08 million a month earlier, the head of the BPS office in Jambi, Ahkmad Jaelani said here on Monday.

Coal was the biggest foreign exchange earner of the province`s mining exports, he said.

He said foreign exchange earnings from farm products in February were recorded at US$3.16 million, down 4 percent from one month earlier.

The export of industrial products in February 2012 rose 5.69 percent to US$76.17 million from January 2012, with plywood and other processed woods recording an increase of 29.94 percent.

Overall, Jambi`s exports in February fell compared to the same period last year.
