Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The French frigate Vendemiare F734 arrived in Makassar port, South Sulawesi, on Thursday for a four-day visit to the region.

"The French warship will be in Makassar for four days while the crew conducts various activities, along with Makassar and South Sulawesi administration officials," deputy commander of the 6th Main Naval Base, Colonel Pulung Prambudi, said after welcoming the ship, which was led by Commander Stanislasde Chargeres.

Vendemiare F734 was built in 1992 and measures 93.5 meter long and weighs 2,600 tons.

The ship, a Raiput Class Frigate, is scheduled to be in Makassar until April 30.

While in Makassar, the ship`s commander plans to make courtesy calls on the 6th Naval Base commander and the mayor of Makassar.

Also, the French ambassador, who is scheduled to be in Makassar on April 25, will meet with regional military officials, the governor and the regional police command chief.

Among the activities to be carried out by the ship`s crew are volleyball and football matches with naval base personnel and also a cocktail party with regional government and military officials.
