"However, they did not say when it would be done, but said they would do it immediately."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Five Malaysian policemen were involved in the shooting to death of three Indonesian migrant workers, said the security director of the National Agency for Protection and Placement of Indonesian Workers (BNP2TKI), Police Brigadier General Bambang Purwanto, in an e-mail.

He said that the five Malaysian police had sprayed bullets on three migrant workers hailing from East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, namely, Herman (34), Abdul Kadir (25) and Mad Noor (28).

According to Bambang, in his investigation of the case he had met with Malaysian police, who assured him that they would provide an explanation regarding the incident.

"However, they did not say when it would be done, but said they would do it immediately," he stated.

Bambang said that the shooting occurred at around 5 am on March 24 in the Dickson Port area, Negeri Sembilan, adding that the police shot the three migrant workers based on the suspicion that they were about to commit a robbery in the Tampin Kanan Tinggi neighbourhood.

When shot, he remarked, the three workers were wearing masks and gloves; they also carried machetes.

According to the information received by Bambang, the three workers defied the police, thus compelling the police to open fire and shoot them many times in the face, body or chest, till they died.

Bambang observed that the bodies of the workers were later taken to the Port Dickson Hospital, but no autopsy was conducted there because of lack of any data regarding their identities.

An autopsy was carried out on March 26 and 27 after Wildan, a close relative of one of the victims, and their employer, Lim Kok Wee, identified the body of Abdul Kadir as that of his worker when the two visited the hospital on March 25.

The first autopsy was performed on the bodies of Abdul Kadir Jaelani and Herman on March 26.

Abdul Kadir`s body was examined by Dr. Mohd Khairul Izzati Omar, while that of Herman, by Dr. Muhammad Huzaifah Rahim. Mad Noor`s body was examined by Dr. Salooraf on March 27.

"The results of the autopsy showed that they had died because of several shots to their heads and bodies," said Bambang.

He added that the hospital issued death certificates for Abdul Kadir and Herman on March 26 and for Mad Noor on March 27.

The bodies of the three immigrants were flown home to Lombok Timur on April 6.

The Indonesian police conducted a second autopsy on Thursday and Friday to check if some of their organs had really been removed.

The second autopsy was performed following allegations of organ-trading associated with the case. The police have yet to announce the results of the second autopsy.
