"The families of the ill-fated migrant workers will leave for Jakarta on Monday afternoon."Mataram, W. Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - The family members of three Indonesian migrant workers who were shot dead on March 22 in Malaysia will meet the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM), according to a spokesman for the families.
"The families of the ill-fated migrant workers will leave for Jakarta on Monday afternoon and I will accompany them," said Muhammad Saleh, coordinator of Koslata, a non-governmental organization (LSM), here on Monday.
The three migrant workers, Herman (34), Abdul Kadir Jaelani (25), and Mad Noor (28), were shot to death by Malaysian police in Negeri Sembilan on suspicion that they were planning to commit a robbery.
Herman was a construction labourer at Mega Five Dev SSDN BGH, Jalan Tuanku Antan, Seremban, Malaysia. And Mad Noor was a labourer at an oil palm plantation in Lot 4302 KG Seremban, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.
The representatives of the three victims are H Ma`sum (Herman`s father), Nurmawi (Mad Noor`s elder brother), and Tohri (Abdul Kadir Jaelani`s elder brother).
The representatives said they would feel relaxed if they met the commission and expressed their feelings.
Komnas HAM chairman Ifdhal Kasim said the Commission would set up an investigative team to probe into the shooting incident.
"If the House of Representatives (DPR) asks the rights body to investigate the death of the three Indonesian migrant workers who were shot in Malaysia, we will do that," he stated here over the weekend.
Ifdhal expressed his intention to include in the team activists from the National Commission for Women (Komnas Perempuan) and the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras).
