"Besides, economic cooperation between the two countries has a big opportunity to develop."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia and Latvia have agreed to improve bilateral relations in the fields of economy, politics, and social culture, according to Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa.
"The two countries have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to improve bilateral relations," he said at a joint press conference with his Latvian counterpart Edgars Rinkevics here on Monday.
Marty added that the MoU would be the basis on which the two countries would make efforts to improve bilateral relations.
He stated that the two countries had big economic opportunities in their bilateral relations, which would turn 20 years in 2013.
"Besides, economic cooperation between the two countries has a big opportunity to develop. The two countries` trade value rose by more than 300 percent in 2011, to US$57.86 million, from 12.12 million in 2010," Marty said.
He expressed hope that the trade value would continue to increase in the future.
