"From them the police confiscated 30 kilograms of meth and 30,000 ecstasy pills."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Jakarta police confiscated 30.5 kilograms of methamphetamine and 382,000 ecstasy pills - all coming from Malaysia and China - and arrested 15 suspects in the past month.

"The arrests were made starting from March 29 until end of April 2012," Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said here on Thursday.

He stated that the total value of narcotic drugs confiscated reached Rp160.3 billion and the drugs were consumable by up to 122 million people.

The command`s deputy director of narcotics, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Rachmad Widodo, said the police had arrested suspects from two different drug syndicates while confiscating the drugs.

The first syndicate was uncovered following the arrest of HS, alias H, at the parking lot of Puri Casablanca Apartment in South Jakarta on March 29. About 20,000 ecstasy pills had been confiscated from him.

Later, the police arrested GBK (a Malaysian national) and ZXW (a Chinese citizen) at Ambasador Apartment in South Jakarta on March 30, 2012, from whom 59,000 ecstasy pills were confiscated.

As the case developed, the police arrested HSN, YSP, BNY, YNT, TWF (alias AFG, a Malaysian national), and TWF (alias AFI, another Malaysian) at Indonesia Mulia Indah bus garage in Rajabasa Raya, Bandar Lampung, on April 16, 2012.

"From them the police confiscated 30 kilograms of meth and 30,000 ecstasy pills," Rachmad said.

The second syndicate was exposed after the arrests of LSN (alias CC), DVK, IRS, BHR, and HRY (a prisoner of Serang Penitentiary) at a filling station in Jatiasih, Bekasi, West Java, on April 10.

From them the police confiscated 3,000 ecstasy pills and 500 grams of meth as evidence.

Rachmad explained that the suspects had smuggled the illegal drugs from Malaysia`s west coastal area via Dumai in the eastern coast of Sumatra through traditional fishing vessels.

He said the suspects had also distributed the drugs in Jakarta, Palembang in Sumatra, Bali, and Pontianak in Kalimantan.
