"The dossiers of Aminah`s death have been handed over to the Indonesian Embassy in Doha."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration on Thursday handed over compensation to the family of Aminah binti Sarki Nurkin, an Indonesian migrant worker who died last month in Qatar.
"The late Aminah (34) had worked for one year in Qatar. On April 9, she complained of pain in the chest and was taken to a hospital for treatment, but she died on April 10," stated Reyna Usman, the Director General for Manpower Affairs at the Manpower Ministry here on Thursday.
Aminah`s family received Rp50 million as migrant workers` protection insurance, Rp5 million for funeral expenses and 15,000 Qatar riyals (about Rp37.5 million) as insurance from Qatar.
Mastari, Aminah`s husband, was unable to utter a word apart from "thanks" when he received the compensation amount in local rupiah and Qatar currencies.
The Manpower Attache at the Indonesian Embassy in Doha, Choirul Huda, reported that official reports from Qatar`s Supreme Council of Health and Hamad hospital mentioned the cause of Aminah`s death as cardio-respiratory failure and sepsis.
"The dossiers of Aminah`s death have been handed over to the Indonesian Embassy in Doha," Choirul added.
At present, some 36,000 Indonesian migrant workers are employed in both the formal and informal sectors in Qatar.
