"Pollution in Depok city has reached an alarming level."
Depok (ANTARA News) - It is necessary for Depok city government in West Java to have a car-free day in order to reduce pollution, according to local councillor Imam Budi Hartono.

"Pollution in Depok city has reached an alarming level and, therefore, the local government needs to immediately implement a car-free day along Margonda Raya street," Imam said here on Friday.

He stated that such a step would have a good impact on the environment of Depok city.

"If implemented, it will be a first step of the local community towards a clean and healthy environment," Imam said, adding that the car-free day could be implemented along the busy Margonda Raya street in the morning for about two or three hours.

"It can also be implemented every week from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., or from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.," he said.
