"They are still being accommodated at Bandarlampung immigration office."Bandarlampung, Lampung Province (ANTARA News) - Twenty-eight illegal immigrants from Pakistan and Myanmar, detained in Lampung Province since Saturday, are still stuck in the Bandarlampung immigration office, according to an official.
"They are still being accommodated at Bandarlampung immigration office in Panjang," the immigration office spokesman Edmon Arwin said here on Monday, adding that the illegal immigrants were travelling on a bus from Medan, North Sumatra, when they were detained in Lampung on Saturday night.
He added that the immigration office was still waiting to hear from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in order to facilitate the accommodation of the illegal immigrants.
That is because Lampung does not have enough detention centres for illegal immigrants.
Data from Lampung Police office indicated that the province was a gateway for illegal immigrants who wanted to go to Australia.
Meanwhile, Lampung police spokesman Adjunct Senior Commissioner Sulistyaningsih said more than 40 illegal immigrants had been arrested in Lampung in the past few months.
