The team would investigate the cause of the accident that occurred when the plane was conducting a demonstration flight.
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - A team from Russia is expected to arrive here on Thursday evening to investigate the crash of Sukhoi Superjet 100 near Mount Salak in Bogor, West Java.

"We are still waiting for the arrival of the investigation team from the Sukhoi aircraft company, which is scheduled to arrive here tonight," said Dmitry Solodov, the press attache of the Russian embassy here, when asked by ANTARA News on Thursday to confirm the information.

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev set up a special team on Wednesday to investigate the incident, which would be led by minister of industry and trade Yury Slyusar and involve officials from the foreign ministry and the Sukhoi aircraft company.

Solodov said the team would investigate the cause of the accident that occurred when the plane was conducting a demonstration flight.

The Sukhoi aircraft company has been promoting the aircraft, which is its first passenger plane, in several countries in Southeast Asia and Central Asia.

The company invited representatives from the ministry of transportation, national airline companies, and the Russian embassy to the demonstration event.

During the first flight, the plane with/ a seating capacity of 98 did not face any problem. But in the second flight, it faced signal troubles just 25 minutes after take-off and crashed in Mount Salak.

It carried about 46 passengers, including eight Russian nationals and mostly Indonesian journalists.(*)
